How long does a typical dishwasher install take?
To uninstall an old dishwasher and then install a new one it usually takes between 1-2 hours.
What kits/attachments do I need to purchase so that my dishwasher can be installed?
A new 8ft stainless steel water line is required.
If your old dishwasher is plugged in and not hard wired, you will also need a new plug. There is a universal dishwasher kit that includes both the water line and the plug. If you are unsure if your dishwasher is hardwired or plugged in then I suggest buying the universal kit.
Bosch dishwashers come with plug by default. If you are buying a Bosch and have a hardwired dishwasher, you will also need to purchase a Bosch junction box.
If you have granite counter tops then you will need a steel bracket so the dishwasher can be mounted.
*All of these can either be purchased with the dishwasher or can be purchased from our company before the install.
Should I repair or replace my existing appliance?
The lifetime of most home appliances is now 8-15 years depending on the appliance. If something major breaks on your appliance and it is within this age range, it is usually better to replace the entire appliance. Major things include faulty control boards, motors, drain pumps, and transmissions.
What are common dishwasher problems?
Some common problems on dishwashers are wash motor failure, drain pumps failure, sump leaks, door leaks, bad heating elements, water inlet valves, control boards and user interfaces. If a dishwasher is not washing as well anymore it is likely that the wash motor is weak, the heating element is worn out, or there are blockages in the wash arms. Sump leaks are usually caused by seals on the bottom of the dishwasher wearing out. A door leak can come from the door becoming misaligned. If the dishwasher does not let in water or if it continually fills, this is a good sign that the water valve is bad. The overfill of water can also cause leaks. It is difficult to know if a control board is bad if you do not have the right tools to test for it. This is because a bad control board can lead to the failure of other parts or make those parts appear to have failed. A good sign that the user interface is bad is if the buttons on the dishwasher have to be mashed very hard to read your input or if the dishwasher wont come on at all. These two symptoms usually indicate either a control board or user interface failure.
What are common washing machine problems?
Some parts that go out on washing machines are wash motors, spin motors, drain pumps, transmissions, suspensions, water inlet valves, door latches, dials, and control boards. If the machine isn't washing as well as it used to that is a sign that the wash motor, spin motor, or transmission are bad. Failure of these parts causes the washer to not be able to spin and/or agitate. Loud grating noises also indicate a wash motor, spin motor, and/or transmission problem. If the suspension is bad the washer may continue to fill and agitate much longer than necessary because it will sense that the load it unbalanced. It may also stop filling and begin to drain before even starting the wash cycle. If the unbalanced load does begin to wash there is likely to be a loud thumping noise and excessive vibration. The washer not filling can indicate a bad water inlet valve. A bad door latch can cause the machine to not start washing at all because the computer believes that the door is still open. If the machine only does what you tell it to do sometimes, it could be a loose connection of some of the dials used to select wash preferences or a bad control board. The washer not turning on at all also indicates a control board issue.
What are common dryer problems?
Heating elements, dryer belts, motors, door latches, and control boards are parts that commonly fail on dryers. If the clothes are not drying as well, it can be a sign that the heating element has gone bad or the dryer may not be getting enough ventilation because the filter is clogged. If the dryer is not spinning, that usually means there is a problem with the dryer belt or the motor. A failed door latch can cause the dryer to not start its cycle at all. If the dryer only does what you tell it to do sometimes, it could be a loose connection of some of the dials used to select drying preferences or a bad control board. The dryer not turning on at all also indicates a control board issue.
